The sale of this service will only be available for flights until 14 October 2021. Tickets with a flight date of 15 October 2021 and later will follow the procedure “Cancellation of flights departing from 15 October 2021”

 

You can buy an extra baggage with a credit card during online check-in or in “My flights” section (for flights operated by Cityliner and Darwin Airlines, only during online check-in).

If you hold a Light fare Alitalia ticket, you will save up to 50% on the price charged at the airport.

In order to benefit from the discount, you must buy your extra baggage in the “My Flights” section.

To/from Cairo no discounts are applied for online purchases of extra baggage during online check-in.

 

The discount is also reserved for disabled passengers who contact Special Assistance the day before the flight departs.

 

LIGHT FARE INFORMATION

 

Hand baggage that exceeds the permitted weight or size or baggage to be put in the hold is subject to a payment, per direction for the first bag, of a supplement of:

 

• Domestic and international flights: € 30 for purchases made on the Alitalia website (in the “My Flights” section) and during online check-in, through call centers and authorized travel agents, € 50 per direction at airport ticket desks and check-in desks  (except flights from/to North Africa for which the fee is € 25 for purchases made on the Alitalia website (in the “My Flights” section) and during online check-in, through call centers and authorized travel agents, € 45 per direction at airport ticket desks and check-in desks). For additional baggage to put in the hold, the standard baggage allowance applies.
  
• € 50 for intercontinental flights from Europe to US, Canada and Mexico, €55 from Europe to Brazil and Argentina, US$ 60 from US, Canada, Mexico to Europe and from Brazil and Argentina to Europe. For additional baggage to put in the hold, the standard baggage allowance applies.
• It is not possible to purchase baggage online or through call centers at the reduced €30 fare for flights operated by other carriers or departing from the following airports: Amsterdam, Corfù, Crete, Dubrovnik, Fuerteventura, Geneva, Havana, Ibiza, Las Palmas, Lefkada, Menorca, Mykonos, Palma de Mallorca, Podgorica, Rhodes, Santorini, Skiathos, Split, Tenerife, Tirana, Zurich.
  
• In case the baggage service is purchased at the airport, an additional charge may be requested as defined by the Airport Handler, which may vary based on the departure airport.
• The fare also applies to one-way  and round trip flights.
• The price can vary based on the moment of purchase of the baggage service.
• Passengers requiring Special Assistance and holding a Light Fare ticket can purchase checked baggage by calling the dedicated number one day before flight departure.

 

You are entitled to a refund of the extra baggage allowance fee in the following cases:

• The flight was not operated by Alitalia
• The original flight was canceled and you refused the new flight proposed by Alitalia
• The baggage for which you had previously purchased the extra allowance is lost and not found again within 45 days
• Illness/death (in both cases, not flying due to illness or death must be proven by a valid hospital certificate or death certificate):
  • of close relatives: spouse, children including adopted children, parents, brothers/sisters, grandparents, grandchildren, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and sons-in-law and daughters-in-law; in this case, proof of the relationship must be provided with the appropriate certificate (certificate of family status or other certificate issued by a local council or registry office)
  •  of passengers who are relatives or friends on the same PNR
    

 

You are not entitled to a refund if:

• You decide to travel with less baggage than the allowance you have purchased
