INFORMATION ON TICKET AND VOUCHER REFUNDS

As of 15 October 2021, Alitalia - Società Aerea Italiana S.p.A. in Extraordinary Administration has ceased its flight activities according  to the procedure for the sale of the "Aviation" branch of Alitalia - Società Aerea Italiana S.p.A. in extraordinary administration to the fully  public owned company  Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A., as  authorized by the Ministry of Economic Development.

 

According to Decree-law no.73 of May 25, 2021, converted into Law of July 23, 2021, no. 106 (as modified by article 7, comma 2, of Decree-law of September 10, 2021, no. 121, converted into Law of November 9,2021 no.156) and article no. 44 of the Decree-law of November 6, 2021 no. 152, a fund of 100 million euro was set up in the estimates of the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) to guarantee the reimbursement of flight tickets, as well as vouchers issued by the extraordinary administration of Alitalia, which are not usable after October 14, 2021 as a consequence of the termination of flight operations.  

 

Alitalia in extraordinary administration, therefore, confirms all measures offered to passengers holding tickets (055), Travelpass packages or vouchers issued by Alitalia in extraordinary administration. 

 

TICKET REFUNDS

 

1.  PASSENGERS WHOSE FLIGHTS WERE CANCELLED  

   

Passengers who have purchased a ticket (055) for a flight operated by Alitalia in extraordinary administration:

 

  • Scheduled up to 14 October 2021, and purchased within 14 October 2021, or  
  • Scheduled after 15 October and purchased within 24 August 2021,

 

 

  •  If the tickets were purchased on the alitalia.com website or  through the Alitalia in extraordinary administration contact center, can apply for refund through the link available on the disruption notification message, or through this link, or through our contact center by calling 800650055 (from Italy) or +39 0665649 (from other countries);
  •  Passengers who purchased their tickets through travel agencies shall apply for refund through their travel agents. 

 

2.  PASSENGERS HOLDING TRAVELPASS TICKETS

 

Above-mentioned measures will be applied to passengers holding Travelpass tickets whose flights were cancelled.

3.  PASSENGERS WHO VOLUNTARILY RENOUNCED TO TRAVEL AS INDICATED ON THE ORIGINAL TICKET

 

Passengers who voluntarily renounced to travel, provided that they have cancelled their reservation before departure by calling the Alitalia in extraordinary administration contact center or through their travel agents, may apply for a refund as follows: 

 

  • For tickets purchased on the alitalia.com website  or through the Alitalia in extraordinary administration contact center can send the request here, or through the contact center by calling  800650055 (from Italy) or +39 0665649 (from other countries)
  • For tickets purchased through travel agencies contact the travel agent

 

The ticket refund, or refund of the residual value, will be evaluated  according to the applicable fare rules in case of voluntary renunciation to travel or according to the measures provided by Alitalia in extraordinary administration in compliance with laws and regulation issued by Governmental Authorities to prevent or contain  the effects of COVID 19 pandemic that have resulted in the renouncement to travel as planned (mobility restrictions, cancellation of events due to pandemic emergency etc.).

4.  VOUCHER REFUND INFORMATION

 

Alitalia in extraordinary administration, therefore, confirms that it will refund the aforementioned vouchers to those holders who are entitled to them, for example: voucher issued for flight cancellations or voluntary renouncements to fly due to Covid-19 restrictions that have expired before October 14, 2021 or vouchers that are expiring after October 15,2021.

 

In consideration of the period of time between the Voucher issuing and expiry date, Alitalia in extraordinary administration suggests in any case to passengers   to send a refund request for the expired Voucher with the aforementioned characteristics, by filling the voucher refund form hereor by contacting the contact  center at the number 800650055 (from Italy) or +39 0665649 (from other countries), in order to confirm or modify any personal and contact data, necessary for the correct management of the reimbursement process and for the payment of the related amounts.
