Covid rules in Italy

 

Italy is divided into colored areas based on the epidemiological risk; different rules apply, depending on the color.

Rules valid throughout the national territory 

                                                                           

Starting from 6 August 2021, it will be possible to carry out some activities only if you are in possession of the Green Pass, which certifies either:

                                                                           

  •  administration of at least the first vaccination dose (valid for nine months); 
  •  recovery from Covid infection (valid for six months);
  •  rapid molecular or antigen test with negative result (valid for 48 hours).                                        

                                                                           

From 1 September 2021, this documentation will also be required when boarding your flight for national destinations. In addition, it will be mandatory in order to access the following activities: 

                                                                           

  •  indoor restaurant/bar services;
  •  sporting events and competitions; 
  •  museums, theaters and other places of culture;  
  •  swimming pools, gyms and wellness centers, limited to indoor activities; 
  •  festivals and fairs, conferences and congresses; 
  •  spas, theme and amusement parks.                                        

                                                                           

The above provisions also apply in the white, yellow, orange and red areas, where the services and activities are permitted and under the conditions envisaged for each area.                                                      

Those excluded by age from the vaccination campaign and those with suitable medical certification are exempt.

 

WHITE ZONE

Total freedom of movements, day and night.

All activities are open, including arcades, casinos, betting agencies and bingo halls. All amusement parks, community and recreation centers are open. Nightclubs are open but dancing is not allowed, and it is only possible to eat, drink and listen to music.

It is still compulsory to always wear a mask indoors and outdoors only when social distancing of at least 1 meter is not possible.

YELLOW ZONE

Total freedom of movement, by day and night.

Wearing a mask, including outdoors, and social distancing of at least 1 meter is still compulsory.

All major commercial activities are open to the public, including shopping malls/outlets. Museums and places of culture are open but on public holidays and pre-holiday days it is necessary to book your visit in advance. Catering activities such as bars, pubs and restaurants are open, including for dinner.

It is permitted to carry out any sports activity outdoors, including team and contact activities, but it is forbidden to use the changing rooms.

Cinema shows, plays, other theatrical performances and concerts are also permitted outdoors, but only with seat reservations and maintaining the required distance. Indoors, there is a limited number of spectators, subject to the necessary social distancing. 

Gyms and sports stadiums will reopen with limited access to the facilities, both outdoors and indoors.

Outdoor pools are open and from 1 July also the indoor ones.

Fairs are allowed and amusement parks are open, while from 1 July spas and thermal water centers, conventions and congresses will reopen.

ORANGE ZONE

Wearing a mask, including outdoors, and social distancing of at least 1 meter is still compulsory.

It is permitted to move freely within the municipality without the need for justification. It is also permitted to travel from municipalities with no more than 5,000 inhabitants, within a distance of 30 km, except to the provincial capitals. 

From 26 April to 15 June, it is permitted to visit relatives or friends in the same municipality. One visit per day is permitted, up to a limit of four adults in addition to those already living together in the destination home.People who are traveling can bring with them minors under the age of 18 over whom they exercise parental responsibility, people with disabilities and people who are not self-sufficient and cohabiting.

Sports activities are only permitted within your municipality. All sports and spas are closed, with the exception of rehabilitation or therapeutic activities and for the training of athletes, both professional and non-professional, who must participate in recognized competitions and events of national importance.

Dining activities, such as bars, pubs, and restaurants are open only for takeout until 10 pm. There are no time limits for home delivery service. Gyms and swimming pools, discos and ballrooms, events, congresses, fairs, stadiums, museums and places of culture are closed. 

RED ZONE

Wearing a mask, including outdoors, and social distancing of at least 1 meter is still compulsory.

It is not permitted to leave one's home except for reasons of health or work or for urgent reasons (purchase of necessities). 

It is possible to go out for a walk, but only in the vicinity of your home.

Individual sports activities are only permitted in the vicinity of your home. All sports and spas are closed, with the exception of rehabilitation or therapeutic activities and for the training of athletes, both professional and non-professional, who must participate in recognized competitions and events of national importance.

Only commercial activities providing food and basic necessities are open to the public. 

It is not permitted to visit relatives or friends, even in the same municipality. You must always be able to demonstrate that your movement falls within those permitted, including by means of a self-declaration form that can be completed on pre-printed forms already supplied to the state police forces and local police forces. 

Catering businesses such as bars, pubs and restaurants are only open for takeout until 10 pm. There are no time limits for home delivery service. 

Gyms and swimming pools, discos and ballrooms, events, congresses, fairs, stadiums, museums and places of culture are closed.
