Covid rules in Italy

 

Italy is divided into colored areas based on the epidemiological risk; different rules apply, depending on the colour. The update is carried out weekly and is determined by the curve of the infections.

Rules valid throughout the national territory 

 

You are obliged to wear a mask at all times, including outdoors, and maintain a distance of at least 1 meter from other, gatherings are prohibited.

 

All movement is prohibited during curfew hours, from 10 pm (from 11.30 pm in the white areas) to 5 am, and between different regions and autonomous provinces, with the exception of movement motivated by proven work needs, situations of necessity or for health reasons.

 

It is possible to travel by car with people who do not live with you, but only the driver can sit in the front part of the car. The car can carry a maximum of two passengers for each additional row of rear seats, with the obligation for all passengers to wear a mask. If you are in a car exclusively with people from the same household, it is possible to occupy all the seats of the car and you do not have to wear a mask.

 

Important

1)    From 15 March to 2 April 2021 and on 6 April 2021, the provisions for orange zones apply in all yellow zones 

2)    On the days of April 3, 4 and 5, the rules valid for the red zones are applied throughout the national territory.

 

WHITE ZONE

It is permitted to move freely within the region.              

All major commercial and leisure activities, such as restaurants, bars, pubs, cinemas, museums, theaters, gyms, swimming pools and cultural venues are open to the public.

Nightclubs and ballrooms, events, congresses, fairs and stadiums are closed.

Nighttime curfew from 11.30 pm to 5 am.

YELLOW ZONE

It is permitted to move freely within the region without the need for justification.

All major commercial activities are open to the public with the exception of  shopping malls /outlets which are open only on weekdays. Museums and places of culture are open except for public holidays and 'pre-holidays' (days before public holidays).

Dining activities, such as bars, pubs, and restaurants are open until 6 pm. Take-out is permitted until 10 pm. There are no time limits for home delivery service.

Gyms and swimming pools, discos and ballrooms, events, congresses, fairs and stadiums are closed.

Nighttime curfew from 10 pm to 5 am.

ORANGE ZONE

It is permitted to move freely within the municipality without the need for justification. It is also permitted to travel from municipalities with no more than 5,000 inhabitants, within a distance of 30 km, except to the provincial capitals.

It is permitted to visit relatives or friends in the same municipality within the maximum limit of one visit per day with two adults and two children under 14 years of age.

Sports activities are permitted only in your municipality. All sports and spas are closed, with the exception of rehabilitation or therapeutic activities and for the training of athletes, both professionals and non-professionals, who must participate in recognized competitions and events of national importance.

RED ZONE

It is not permitted to leave one's home except for reasons of health or work or for urgent reasons (purchase of necessities).

It is possible to go out for a walk, but only in the vicinity of your home.

Individual sports activities are only permitted in the vicinity of your home. All sports and spas are closed, with the exception of rehabilitation or therapeutic activities and for the training of athletes, both professionals and non-professionals, who must participate in recognized competitions and events of national importance.            

Only commercial activities providing food and basic necessities are open to the public.

It is not permitted to visit relatives or friends, even in the same municipality with the exception of 3, 4 and 5 April 2021 within the maximum limit of one visit per day within the same region with two adults and two children under 14 years.

You must always be able to demonstrate that the movement falls within those permitted, including by means of a self-declaration form that can be completed on pre-printed forms already supplied to the state police forces and local police forces.               

Catering businesses such as bars, pubs and restaurants are only open for take-out until 10 pm. There are no time limits for home delivery service.

Gyms and swimming pools, discos and ballrooms, events, congresses, fairs, stadiums, museums and places of culture are closed.
